Pontresina is located in he Upper Engadine just about in the middle of the triangle formed by Zurich, Milan and Munich. You can easily reach your holiday destination using the Rhätische Bahn railway, the good road network or by air.
Arrival by rail
Travel in comfort with the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) from the transport hub of Zurich with reliable, state-of-the-art Intercity trains to Chur, the capital of Canton Graubünden. This is where the fun begins: the journey by Rhaetian Railway into the Upper Engadin passes through loop tunnels and over dizzying viaducts and is one of the most picturesque and interesting journeys in the whole of Europe. The UNESCO World Heritage Label and the famous classic trains like the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express speak for themselves. On request, entire trains or special viewing and Pullman coaches can be hired, with or without a catering service on board.

Arrival by road
Pontresina is within easy reach from northern Switzerland, Ticino, Italy and Austria on safe, well-maintained alpine roads. In winter the valley is accessible over the Maloja, Julier, Ofen or Bernina passes.
If it is snowing and therefore the passes are closed or you want to avoid driving over the mountain passes, you may transport your car by rail:
- Klosters/Selfranga - Sagliains in the Lower Engadin
(you remain in your car on the car train)
Arrival by bus - Engadinexpress
The first normally scheduled public-transit bus between Zurich Airport and the Hotel Walther brings you comfortably and without change busses to Pontresina. This service is only available in winter.

Arrival by air
With the Engadin Airport, the destination of Engadin St. Moritz has the highest airport in Europe. It also has customs clearance, which means that Engadin Airport can be reached by international flights. Flying over the Alps and the imposing Engadin mountain peaks gives a bird's eye view of the Engadin – an impressive experience!
